I won't pick on you or anyone for running Vista but absent a truly compelling reason to go to it, like you need it for specific SW or because you bought a new PC, I wouldn't even dream of upgrading yet. I sincerely hope that you didn't try to install 16 updates in one one and without manually setting your own RP!

I'm trying to install Vista on a 40gb partition of my harddrive, and I've made sure to remove the boot flag from the other partition during install. Nothing happens. Eventually, I cut power and start it up. It tries to load up Windows, but stays perpetually on the load screen (green bar, and that's it).

Leaving the Key info blank will not prevent you from installing. Entering your key will. From within your new installation of Vista, install Vista one Be sure to choose upgrade, and not clean install, when Setup prompts you. An Upgrade install takes longer, so don't panic when nothing seems to be happening.
